At first, this YRF film was all hush-hush. All we knew was that Katrina Kaif had teamed-up with King Khan despite her Sallu connection. A casting coup of sorts? We think so.
Then, the second leading lady of the film was revealed - Anushka Sharma. But a title wasn't forthcoming. When it did, we were almost certain what's in store for us and the trailer just confirmed it - a love story that oozes romanticised patriotism, pretty ladies, foreign locales and stirring music. With a title like Jab Tak Hai Jaan what else can it possibly be?
But we've got to admit that there's a certain magic to it. Shah Rukh Khan is dizzyingly goodlooking in uniform. We'll overlook the part where he's a yuppy trying to do the salsa with a sizzling Katrina Kaif. Anushka Sharma wins us over with her smile and portrayal of a gutsy journalist.
Bombs exploding as King Khan takes a heroic stride towards the camera may be corny. But we can't deny the irresistible quality of his lover in turmoil. SRK knows he's nailed the brief and we are suckers for it. The cynic in us is going to watch this film screaming & kicking. But the YRF-mush fan is going to go in guns blazing.
The film releases on Novemeber 13.
