Iphone 5 Far Better Than Galaxy S3

Apple made a lot of tall claims when it released iPhone 5 recently. It stated that the device comes with an A6 chip which provides 2X performance compared to the A5 chip used in iPhone 4S. Now, the score of iPhone 5 on Geekbench tests has affirmed this.

The tests show an ‘iPhone 5,2′ device using a dual-core 1.02 GHz A6 chip together with 1GB of RAM. The overall score that iPhone 5 earns on the Geekbench tests totals 1601. It would be interesting to note here that iPhone 4S scored 629 on the very same tests, so essentially the score of iPhone 5 is more than double that of iPhone 4S.
What is even more noteworthy is the fact that iPhone 5 scores significantly higher than Samsung Galaxy S III, probably the most competent Android smartphone on the market. Galaxy S III scored a mere 1560 on the Geekbench tests.

Apple had been claiming that its new iPhone is going to be much faster than other smartphones on the market and it has now lived up to that claim. Although we haven’t yet received a lot of benchmark reports about iPhone 5, we can expect that they are going to be fairly consistent with the Geekbench scores.
The device is already available for pre-orders with Apple as well as with a number of wireless carriers. In-store availability will begin on September 21st. So if you’ve been waiting to lay your hands on it, you may want to head to an Apple Store on the early hours of that date.
